Yoga Therapy at The Yoga Shed

A personalised yogic approach to support your whole self — body, mind, and inner life

Yoga Therapy at The Yoga Shed is for people who want to explore yoga in a way that is deeply personal, supportive, and meaningful — not just as exercise, but as a pathway toward greater clarity, balance, and ease.

As a senior yoga teacher and yoga therapist, I draw on physical yoga postures, mindful movement, Pranayama (yogic breathing techniques), relaxation and meditation practices, self-awareness tools, and yogic wisdom to meet you where you are. Yoga Therapy can gently support you if you’re navigating stress, fatigue, life transitions, physical limitations or patterns that feel hard to shift — or if you simply want to practice in a way that honours your unique needs and inner direction.

Unlike a standard private yoga class, Yoga Therapy includes a structured assessment, a documented personalised plan, and ongoing review. It goes deeper than guided practice — offering insight, education, and support that helps you understand your patterns and apply yoga meaningfully in daily life.

How Yoga Therapy Can Support You

People come to Yoga Therapy for many reasons, including:

  • Stress, overwhelm or difficulty switching off

  • Fatigue, poor sleep, or feeling “stuck in your head”

  • Physical limitations or discomfort that affect practice or daily life

  • Life changes, grief, or relationship transitions

  • A sense of disconnection from your body, breath, or inner life

  • A wish to deepen your practice with a more intentional and reflective approach

Yoga Therapy doesn’t replace medical or psychological care. Instead, it offers a complementary yogic framework that helps you work with your body, breath and mind in a way that supports your whole system.

How Yoga Therapy Works

Yoga Therapy at The Yoga Shed is offered as a structured 3-session program, so you receive a clear assessment, a personalised plan and support as you put that plan into practice.

1. Pre-Session Health & Lifestyle Questionnaire

Once you’ve requested Yoga Therapy, you’ll receive an online intake form that covers:

  • Health history and current conditions

  • Lifestyle patterns (work, rest, movement, stress load)

  • Areas of concern or discomfort

  • Your intentions, priorities and goals

This gives us a thorough starting point and helps you clarify what you’d like support with.

2. Session 1 – Initial Consultation & Assessment (45 minutes)

In your first session (in-studio near Branxton or via Zoom), we:

  • Discuss your questionnaire in more depth

  • Explore how you’re currently moving, breathing and responding to stress

  • Gently assess posture, movement patterns and ease of breathing

  • Clarify realistic, supportive priorities for your Yoga Therapy plan

The focus here is understanding you as a whole person, not diagnosing or “fixing” you.

3. Your Personalised Yoga Therapy Plan

After Session 1, I create a documented plan tailored to your needs and capacity. This may include:

  • Selected physical postures and mindful movement sequences

  • Pranayama (yogic breathing techniques)

  • Relaxation and meditation practices

  • Simple self-awareness and reflection tools

  • Lifestyle suggestions that support nervous system balance and steadiness

You receive this plan in written form so you can refer back to it and integrate it into home practice.

4. Session 2 – Plan Walk-Through & Education

In your second session, we work through the plan together:

  • Practising key postures, movements and breathing techniques

  • Adjusting for comfort, safety and your current level of energy

  • Clarifying how often to practise, and how to fit it into everyday life

  • Answering questions so you feel confident using the plan on your own

This session is practical and experiential — we are refining the plan so it genuinely works for you.

5. Session 3 – Progress Check & Refinement

By the third session, you’ve had time to live with your plan and notice what feels supportive and what is more challenging. In this session we:

  • Review your experience so far

  • Adjust pace, frequency or specific practices as needed

  • Add or simplify elements as your situation evolves

  • Clarify the next steps for ongoing support

You leave with an updated plan that reflects where you are now, not where you were at the first session.

Working Alongside Other Care

Yoga Therapy can sit comfortably alongside support you may already be receiving from your GP, psychologist, physiotherapist, osteopath or other health practitioners.

My role is not to replace these modalities or offer medical advice, but to:

  • Help you use yoga in an intelligent, sustainable way

  • Support you to listen to your body and nervous system more clearly

  • Offer practices that align with, rather than compete with, other care

Where helpful, you’re welcome to bring recommendations or reports from other practitioners to inform your Yoga Therapy plan.

Location & Format

Yoga Therapy sessions are offered:

  • In-studio at The Yoga Shed, located in a peaceful country setting near Branxton, surrounded by native bushland and gardens

  • Online via Zoom, for those further away or who prefer to work from home

Both options follow the same 3-session structure and include your personalised written plan.
